Cookies and storage
This site sets no cookies. This page explains the one thing it does keep in your browser, why no banner asks you about it, and what would change if that ever changed.
In short
No cookies, first party or third party. No fonts, scripts or images from anyone else. No analytics, no pixel, no tag manager. One local storage key that remembers the interface theme you picked.
What is stored in your browser
| Key | empireos-theme |
|---|---|
| Kind | Local storage, not a cookie |
| Purpose | Remembers the interface theme you chose on the home page so the next visit does not flash the wrong colours before the page paints |
| Written | Only when you press a theme button |
| Read | Once, before the page paints |
| Sent to a server | Never |
| Identifies you | No |
| Lifetime | Until you clear it |
Why there is no banner
Storage that only does what you asked for is strictly necessary and needs no consent, under the ePrivacy rules that the banner practice comes from and under the shape of the pending Maldivian Bill. A banner would ask you to consent to your own preference. So there is none.
The consent key
If this site ever adds a category of storage that is not strictly necessary, your choice about it will be kept in a second local storage key, empireos-consent, holding the version of the choices, the time you made them and your answer per category. Today that key is never written. The "Privacy choices" button in the footer shows the categories that exist: one, strictly necessary, always on.
How to clear it
Press "Privacy choices" in the footer and then "Clear stored preferences"; that removes empireos-theme and, if it ever exists, empireos-consent. Or use your browser's site data control for runempireos.com. The home page returns to its default theme on your next visit.
If analytics were ever added
Three things would happen before any such script ran: a banner would appear and nothing would load until you chose; the script would stay blocked in the page until your choice allowed it; and this page would list the new item, its purpose and its vendor before it was used. Any such change is a new decision, published here with a new version number, never a quiet patch.
